  NGL Extraction

In August 2009, Freeport LNG applied for a FERC permit to construct integrated natural gas liquids (NGL) extraction facilities at the terminal. The project would retrofit existing LNG vaporizers to provide for two trains of 500 million cubic feet per day (“MMcf/d”) of extraction capacity each (or about 33% of the LNG terminal’s capacity for each train).

In addition to ensuring that Freeport LNG customers’ send-out gas consistently meets pipeline standards, NGL extraction would provide for a valuable merchant business opportunity for both Freeport LNG and its customers.
