On February 23rd, 2011, Freeport LNG held an open house meeting at its terminal administration building, and the following day, another meeting was held in Lake Jackson at the Cherotel to introduce the public and stakeholders to the proposed liquefaction project. The open house meetings were well attended by landowners, residents and other interested parties.

Overall, about one hundred visitors from Quintana and the wider Brazosport area attended. Posters, videos and handouts were used to communicate information on the proposed project, and experts in the different technical and environmental areas were available to answer questions and listen to comments and concerns about the project. Commission were also present to answer questions about the approval process for the project. Blank forms were provided during the open house meetings and inserted in the take-home hand-out packets for visitors to write their questions, comments or concerns and submit them to Freeport LNG.


On July 28th, 2011, Freeport LNG held another open house meeting at its terminal administration building to update the public and stakeholders on changes and improvements to the proposed liquefaction project since February 2011. The open house meeting was again well attended; overall, about thirty-five visitors from Quintana and the wider Brazosport area participated.

Through the open house meetings Freeport LNG was able to present details about the proposed project and receive feedback from the public directly. Comments and questions provided by visitors who attended the open house meetings were greatly appreciated.
