Job Summary

The position of Electrical Engineer reports directly to the Electrical Engineering Supervisor. This role is accountable for ensuring the Electrical System, from 138kV to Low Voltage, functions safely, efficiently, and reliably, to meet business goals for production while minimizing unscheduled equipment downtime. The complexity of the electrical power systems in both the Liquefaction (LQF) and Pretreatment (PTF) Facilities requires a high level of technical expertise to monitor and evaluate the health of the power system. This role should proactively offer solutions to avoid reliability and availability issues and meet utility connection requirements. The role will provide integrity oversight in the areas of Power System Modeling, Protective Relays, Hazardous Area Classification, and PMCS. In addition, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be required to interface with the Maintenance and Operations teams to assist with troubleshooting as well as providing technical support and act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Power System Modeling, Electrical Protection Systems, High Voltage Cable Systems, Variable Frequency Drives, Harmonics, and Gas Turbine Generators. 

Duties/Responsibilities

• Familiar with power distribution within and industrial facility from 480V to 138kV and large synchronous machines

• Supports technical analysis to identify electrical hazards, evaluate related risks, and assist in the development of effective risk control solutions.

• Participate in multidisciplinary incident investigations.

• Perform electrical studies and analysis such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash etc. for review by a senior engineer.

• Develop electrical scope of work packages for the execution of electrical and/or multi discipline projects.

• Actively participate in root cause analysis.

• Support maintenance with PM activities.

• Develop technical reports to be reviewed by senior engineer.

• Supports timely and accurate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), Engineering Service Requests (ESRs)

• Supports technical and commercial evaluations of engineering proposals and contracts

• Supports and develops multidiscipline Management of Change packages (MOCs) to ensure quality documentation and efficient approval and execution.

Essential Functions

• Knowledge of Engineering systems, calculations, applications and operations methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.

• Accountable for ensuring the safety, security, health and environmental incidents are prevented through frequent job observations and assessments. Responsible for developing or collecting information in support of permit requirements as assigned.

• Support the development of electrical safe operating and engineering practices at company assets that fully incorporate aspects of company electrical safety standard and NFPA 70E.

• Supports the maintenance and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) with the emphasis on monitoring and analysis for electrical systems for predictive maintenance to achieve increased efficiency and reduced downtime.

• Developing working knowledge of Engineering Codes and Standards related to electrical engineering, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, and others.

• Support the development and/or revision of electrical related standards, procedures, guidelines and plans as required to meet industry standards or regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualification/Work Experience

Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Minimum Experience Required: 1-5 years of relevant experience and 1+ years of experience in an operating industrial facility

HSE Roles and Responsibilities

Support the policies, efforts, and programs of Freeport LNG Health, Safety and Environmental Management System. Actively participate in the HSE Management System Policies. Ensure that HSE concerns are given priority in all activities completed within their area of responsibility. Implement routine inspections to ensure safe operating conditions.
