Job Summary
The Maintenance Engineer supports safe and reliable operations by providing frontline technical support for the maintenance, optimization, and reliability of mechanical, HVAC, and supporting facility systems. This role applies both proactive and reactive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability, performance, and availability. As a technical resource, the incumbent provides troubleshooting expertise, repair guidance, and cross-functional collaboration while driving continuous improvement initiatives that minimize downtime and enhance asset performance.
Location/Travel Information
This position is based at the Terminal Facility, LQF, or PTF, with travel to off-site locations as required. The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid, unexpired driver's license at all times to perform the essential functions of the position.
Duties/Responsibilities
Maintenance Engineering Support
• Provide technical support for routine maintenance, corrective maintenance, outages, and turnaround activities.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and recommend repair strategies that support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
• Review drawings, manuals, specifications, and engineering documentation to support maintenance execution.
• Support mechanical, HVAC, facility, and related systems as assigned.
Reliability and Continuous Improvement
• Analyze maintenance history, equipment performance, and reliability data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Develop recommendations to reduce equipment failures, improve asset availability, and optimize maintenance strategies.
• Support condition-based, predictive, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Participate in reliability improvement initiatives, equipment assessments, and lessons-learned reviews.
Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis
• Lead or support troubleshooting efforts for recurring, complex, or high-impact equipment issues.
• Conduct or participate in root cause analyses and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, vendors, and technical representatives to resolve equipment concerns.
• Document findings, recommendations, and follow-up actions clearly and accurately.
Procedures, Quality, and Work Process Support
• Develop, review, and improve maintenance procedures, job plans, repair methods, and technical work instructions.
• Verify repair quality, equipment condition, and documentation accuracy to support reliable operation.
• Evaluate spare parts needs, equipment history, and inventory gaps to support maintenance readiness.
• Promote consistent application of company standards, operating discipline, and industry best practices.
Safety, Collaboration, and General Duties
• Support a safety-first culture and ensure maintenance engineering activities align with company HSE expectations.
• Communicate effectively with employees, contractors, vendors, and leadership in both office and field environments.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to maintenance teams as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support safe, reliable, and efficient terminal operations.

Minimum Qualification/Work Experience
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum Experience Required: Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.
Required Systems Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP CMMS.
Preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience in maintenance, reliability, or project leadership.
Preferred Systems Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Power BI and AI-enabled productivity tools.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance principles.
HSE Roles and Responsibilities
Support Freeport LNG HSE programs and initiatives. Participate in audits, inspections, investigations, and continuous improvement efforts. Ensure compliance considerations are integrated into all work activities.
Working Conditions and Physical Expectations
Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility.
Must be able to wear all required PPE.
Operates in both office and industrial plant environments.
Routinely exposed to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and perform field inspections when required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.
Ability to drive to various company locations as required.
Ability to communicate effectively in both office and field settings.
Work Authorization / Security Clearance
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to meet all Freeport LNG security and access requirements.
