Job Summary

This position is primarily concerned with the day-to-day Commercial analytical activities and broader corporate business functions. The analyst will be responsible for commodity settlements and invoicing, energy and inventory balance reporting, middle office & ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management system) processes, and commercial analysis reporting.  Position requires daily interface with the commercial department’s Commercial Services, Commercial Operations and Supply & Trading teams, as well as, Marketing, Accounting, Finance and operational teams.  Periodic interface with customers and other counterparties may also be required.  

Ideal candidates will be self-starters and team players, requiring minimal oversight, and willing to take on multiple tasks simultaneously with a keen attention to detail.  LNG, natural gas, and/or ERCOT power experience with advanced excel skills are preferred. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.


 

Duties/Responsibilities

•    Maintain in-depth understanding of key commercial contracts and agreements
•    Daily analytical support and reporting for the Structuring, Risk & Analytics business processes including the following functions:
o    Energy balancing and inventory management.
o    Transaction confirmation and commodity actualization. 
o    Commodity risk data validations, systems support, and reporting in the ETRM.
o    Settlement and invoicing for commodity contracts for multiple business entities.
o    Support commercial front and back-office activities.
•    Daily analytical support and reporting for power settlements and invoicing.
•    Provide continuous improvement for the Structuring, Risk, & Analytics team and Commercial organization.
•    Reporting on commodity procurement KPI for senior management.
•    Required rotational weekend coverage for front-office transactional support.
•    Ad hoc analytical and structuring support for business development, gas acquisition and LNG marketing activities, as directed by Sr. Director Structuring, Risk, & Analytics.  
 

 

Minimum Qualification/Work Experience

Minimum Education Required:    BA in supply chain, economics, finance, engineering, or related field or commensurate professional experience
Minimum Experience Required:   <1 analytical experience 

 

Preferred Education:     BA in supply chain, economics, finance, engineering, or related field.  

Preferred Experience:     1-2 years analytical experience with proficiency in MS Excel modeling.

Familiarity with commodity contracts, natural gas and/or ERCOT power market fundamentals, familiarity with the LNG supply chain, and associated commodity transactions

•    Ability to remain calm in stressful conditions to reach a positive outcome to the situation.
•    Willingness to cross-train in other areas of Commercial Department and provide after hours on call support as needed.

HSE Roles and Responsibilities

Support the policies, efforts, and programs of Freeport LNG Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System.  Actively participate in the HSE Management System Policies.  Ensure that HSE concerns are given priority in all activities completed within their area of responsibility.  Implement routine inspections to ensure safe operating conditions.
